Peterborough or Bust!!!
The long trip to Peterborough was a good one as we made it to the semi-finals and hardly lost 3-1
Our first game was Friday at 7:00 at the Bewdley arena just outside Peterborough, as we took on Jody Rowland Contracting. It all started in the first as the duel of Conlan and Chayse did it again with Chayse scoring the goal. Later Mason went all the way and fired the puck in the top corner. Finally Conlan did it again putting us up 3-0 going into the second period.
In this period Mason passed to the Matrix Brandon who shot top shelf . That put us up 4-0 heading to the third.
Brock came in flying from the side and Pow it was in. We kind of coasted for a while and JRC scored three quick ones but we hung on for the 5-3 win!!!
Game two was Saturday at 3:00 at Millbrook Arena against the Nepean AE ... with a nice warm area but it didn't help our team. We were down 1-0 and Joey had three nice tries but no go for him. Later Brandon got it to Conlan and in the side corner it went. We ended this period down 4-1.
Being down 5-1 we skated on and Conlan got it over to Chayse and he shot it low along the ice. Number #11 was a wrecking machine but he couldn't shut his mouth. The game ended 5-2... so we trudge on to the next game.
At 8:00 we played the Dorchester Dragons in Millbrook and things started good for us as Brad broke in and scored on the short side. A little later Andrew got it over to Chayse and Bang it was in.
In the second period Bradly made some beauty saves to keep us up 2-1 going into the third period.
This period was a scramble and Gavin scored on a rebound and later at 2:12 they scored to make it 3-2. Near the end they pulled their goalie with 20 seconds left and the Ref decides to give us a penalty with 11 seconds left but we survived the end of the game winning a hard fought 3-2 win. On to the semi finals we go on Sunday at 9 am in Bewdley arena.
This time its the Kanata Chiefs we play and right out the gate Bradley made some sweet saves but we gave them a breakaway and they capitalized on it to put us down by one.
In the second they scored late in the period and their goalie was saving our good shots and we ended the period down 2-0.
The third period was a 'do or die' and after a Kanata goal, Tie made it close at 3:29 and we pulled our goalie at 1:10, but to no avail... we play hard, very hard but they snuck in a 3-1 win to move on.
Well done Ice Dogs ... the playoffs await us and we are ready :-)
