Capitalizing on the Capitals
Walkerton #2 came to Tara and it was quite the game! Although our first encounter this season with this team was a challenge, the Dogs played excellent hockey last night.  It led to some great opportunities and that led to a tie game!  5-5

Our usual reporter was good enough to take over the duties of the scoresheet.  There may be a discrepancy or two in this report since that sheet stayed with Reporter Rick, but here is to the best of my vantage point....

The IceDogs got on the scoreboard first at 6:15 with a solid goal from Brad AH, but a minute later, Walkerton had tied it up.  By the end of the period, the Capitals would be using their increased shot on net total to make it 3 for them and one for us.

The next period started with the IceDogs on the offense and keeping the puck in the other end.  At 8:47, a pass from Chayse to Conlan makes it 2.  The Capitals come back during one of their few power play opportunities to make it 4 on their side of board.  The second period ends with the Dogs enjoying a man advantage due to a hold, but the score remains unchanged at 2 to 4.

The third period was worth the price of admission! This was the only period when the Dogs took more shots than received.  The period starts with Brad H dealing with a penalty shot from a Walkerton skater that ran him down seconds before.  And deal with it, he did!  Then Brandon and Mitch got to work and it was 3 to 4 at 13:08.  The Dogs received a two man advantage for two minutes that was very exciting but no goals.  We would have to wait until the next Capital penalty and then Gavin would put the puck away to tie the game at 4.  Walkerton responded with another.  IceDogs were relentless though.  Chayse and Conlan tied it up again.  5 all!  Our goalie had to endure some heavy pressure in the last two minutes and made a beautiful glove save to keep the tie! Not even a last minute man advantage changed that fact.

A great game!
