IceDogs Topple Predators
The Novice White IceDogs headed for the Lion’s Den to tangle with the Bruce Penn Predators and escaped with 2 points in the bank.
It was an energetic crowd for this one as both teams were serenaded onto the ice to start the game. The IceDogs were skating and checking hard to start this one and Porter B. and Cohen H. would send Jesse P in on a breakaway for the ice-breaking opening goal. Jesse P would strike again (unassisted) and shortly after Ashley L. did the dirty work in the corner to feed a wide open Brayden P who went top cheddar (well, almost!) to give the IceDogs the 3-0 first period lead.
Bruce Penn would bounce back with a hard-working goal but the IceDogs struck twice themselves--Jesse P from Porter and Joey and then Brayden P from Waylon and Ashley. They might not have hit the scoresheet but Vivian and Quinn were rock solid in their own end and made a few dandy passes to get the puck out of the IceDog end.
The third period was all IceDogs as Jesse would nick the twine twice more (unassisted). Jesse P would get on the scoresheet again in the assist column when he sent Brayden in all alone for the final goal of the game to cap the scoring.
With a lot of mixing and matching of the lines, the IceDogs played a very good overall game and look like they are primed and ready for a playoff run.
Next up, it's a road trip to Owen Sound for the final regular season game--3 pm puck drop.
