IceDogs Win Silver in WOAA Championship Final
The Novice White IceDogs travelled to the Southampton Coliseum for Game 2 of the Novice LL Championship Series.  The IceDogs were fresh off of a tough loss on Thursday and were eager to bounce back and even the series.

The energy in the room was electric at the beginning of the game.  The IceDogs were buzzing and the one thing about this team we all learned as the season went along--they were a TEAM.  The positive energy was contagious and the IceDogs were ready!

In prediciatble fashion, the IceDogs came out flying and almost buried one on the opening rush.  The IceDogs feverishly forechecked and back checked and it took another lucky bounce (the series was ripe with them!) for the Storm to get one by Dylan L.  The IceDogs didn't give up and Waylon G. had a tremendous bounce back shift as he tried to get his team on the board.  The first period would end with the Storm leading 1-0.

The second period saw the Storm push back and gain some momentum.  They hemmed the IceDogs in their own end for a 2 minute period and snuck another goal in to take a 2-0 lead.  Once again, the IceDogs bounced back with a tremendous shift but couldn't solve the Storm goalie.  The second would end with the Storm holding the 2 goal advantage.

This IceDog team never, ever quits and they were determined to get themselves back in the game.  Jesse P made one of his patented rushes and fed a wide open Brayden who delivered the one-timer but the Storm goalie was equal to the task.  Some more pressure, a time-out and a power play and the IceDogs gave the Storm all they could handle.  But, the push back emptied the tanks and a late Storm goal would seal the deal and give the Storm the game and the series.

WOAA Convenor Kaye Holmes said she had never seen such hockey at the Novice level and praised both teams for their effort.  I know the coaches are extremely proud of the way the IceDogs conducted themselves on and off the ice and it was especially awesome to see how the team huddled together after the final buzzer one last time....they really grew together as the season went along....Dylan, Vivian, Waylon, Quinn, Cohen, Porter, Ashley, Joey, Jake, Carter, Jesse and Brayden---you are awesome hockey players and better kids and I am very, very proud to be your coach.

Congratulations on your Silver Medal---you definitely earned it!
