Novice White IceDogs Battle the Lakers for First Place!
The red hot Novice White IceDogs hosted the Shallow Lake Lakers in a key divisional match-up.  The winner would take sole possession of first place.

The Lakers were coming off a couple of big wins of their own and it was a back and forth affair to start things off.  Dylan L. was making his first start between the pipes and was tested early as the Lakers poured on the pressure.  The IceDogs began to push back as the period came to an end.  Jesse P would get the IceDogs on the board with a snipe from the slot after Brayden P won a face-off.  1-0 IceDogs after one period of play.

The second period started with the Lakers getting on the board to knot things up at one.  With the Lakers pouring on the pressure, Jesse P would slide a pass from his knees to Brayden who went post and in to put the Ice Dogs in the lead again.  Jesse P would make an electrifying rush as the period wound down and slip a backhand by the Laker net minder and it was 3-1 'Dogs after two.

These Lakers weren't in first place for nothing though and kept on coming and they would tie the game with a couple of goals midway through the third period.  The Hound Line of Jake F, Carter M. and Porter B. would swing the momentum back the IceDogs way with a couple of great fore-checking shifts.  With the Lakers on their heels, Waylon G. would put a little sauce on a pass, over to Brayden P and he ripped a seeing eye shot blocker side to give the IceDogs the lead.  Jake F. would bang in his 1st of the campaign after some hard work by Porter and Carter.  Brayden P would ice this one with a backhanded breakaway to give the IceDogs the win 6-3.  The IceDog defence was rock solid in this one and never gave the Lakers an inch as the game came to a close.

The win vaults the IceDogs into first place--great work team--your hard-work is paying off early in the season!
