U15 IceDog Journey Comes to an End
Your U15 Rep IceDogs had a win and your in game on Saturday in Paisley.  Their opponent was arch-nemiss Drayton.  Yet, the IceDogs were primed and ready to deliver in front of their friends, family and fans.

The game was well played by both sides, with the IceDogs holding an advantage in possession, as Drayton continually iced the puck, waiting for the opportunity to strike.  And they took advantage of their opportunities when they got them.  The IceDogs were full marks for their effort but just couldn't execute on this day.  As the game wore on, the sticks were getting squeezed and passes and shots were just off the mark.  The IceDogs succumbed 5-0 despite playing well and sadly their RedHat quest come to an end.

It was a season full of great moments as the first year players found their game (playing first year body contact) and the 2nd year players led by example, on and off the ice.  As Coach Josh said, we were greater than the sum of our parts.  Playing the right way, with speed and skill and a mental toughness, they proved a lot of people wrong that they were too small or not good enough to play in a body contact league.  In the playoffs, they found their game and dominated possession, even in games they didn't win.  Coach Greg, Coach Josh and I couldn't be prouder of this group of players.

Everyone wants the story book ending and this team was no different...they deserved a better fate...but that's not the way it always goes.  Owen, Anderson, Tyler, Alek, Austin, Owen M-10, Owen M-8, Simon, Brayden, Riley, Ian, Chris and Ethan--when the disappointment goes away (and it will), you will realize it was one of the best collection of teammates you will ever be a part of.

Good luck to our U11 and U13 IceDog brothers and sisters as they head to the OMHA Tournaments in Barrie.  We will be cheering you on to bring home those banners, trophies and Red Hats!
