U15 IceDogs Celebrate Hockey Day With a Win!
It was Hockey Day in Canada and is there anything better than this great game!  The smell of ice, the sounds of hockey--Canada and the IceDogs were celebrating all that and more on this day.

Your U15 IceDogs were looking to turn a corner as they hit the 2023 part of the schedule.  They were focusing on the little things that win battles and win hockey games and were looking to do it again versus our neighbours to the East, TCDMHA Rebels.

Down a few bodies for this one, the IceDogs called in some reinforcements (on the bench and on the ice!) and it took a little bit to gel at the start of this one.  Slowly but surely, the IceDogs began to tilt the ice and relentless pressure evenutally led to Owen M-10 drawing a penalty.  The Owen M's combined to work the puck to Tyler B. who fed a cheeky little pass to Riley J. for a power play goal and the IceDogs were on the board and led 1-0 at the break.

After the Rebels tied it up on a great pressure shift of their own, the IceDogs responded with a beauty.  Alek F. fed an in motion Owen M-8.  Owen made a deft little one handed play to get the puck around the defender and would score on his patented deke to give the IceDogs back the lead 2-1.  More IceDog pressure led to chance after chance but the Rebel tendy was equal to the task, with several 10 bell saves.  Owen W. back in the IceDog net wasn't tested all that often but every shot seemed to be through traffic or bouncing but he was equally sharp, keeping his team in the lead. It was 2-1 at the flood.

The IceDogs knew the Rebels would be coming in the third so they had to be equally as hungry.  And, for the most part, they were.  More chances were turned away by the Rebel net minder and eventually, that Rebel tenacity led to a deflection goal and we were knotted at 2's with time winding down.  But these IceDogs have become resilient this season and kept the positive energy on the bench and on the ice.  A great play off the wall by Simon to get the puck out of the zone led to Brayden P. tipping a pass to a streaking and wide open Chris P. and he would skate in uncontested and pot the goal to give the IceDogs a 3-2 lead with less than a minute left to play.  The Rebels would pull the tender put the IceDogs prevailed to the tune of 3 to 2.

It was a great way to celebrate Hockey Day.  The IceDogs played the right way, showed their resiliency and persevered with a W.  Let's keep the ball rolling for the last 2 games of the regular season.
