IceDogs Fall in Gutsy Effort vs Rams
There are games on the calendar you circle--they mean just a little bit more--and when the IceDogs face the Mount Forest Rams next time, you can be sure, there will be some hungry IceDogs.

The IceDogs were shorthanded on this day--with suspensions and other absences but not a single player in that room was looking at that as an excuse to take a game off.  And the IceDogs got on the scoreboard early when Owen M-8 and Brayden P worked a little magic in the corner, getting the puck to Karden C. for a power play goal.  The IceDogs would give that one back and then another as fatigue and some penalty kills led to a few breakdowns.  It was 2-1 at the first recess.
The 2nd period had the finding their game again but they gave up a couple more to trail 4-1 at flood.  Despite trailing, the IceDogs were the harder working team and it was only a few tough bounces that were the difference in the game.  Owen W. was keeping his team in it with some aggressive goaltending.
Entering the third, the IceDogs had one goal--just keep coming.  They would get another goal when Karden C. when top cheddar from a tough angle (assisted by Riley J).  With the momentum swinging their way, another tough bounce ended up in the IceDog net but Riley J. would notch a goal on the power play (with assists to Alek F and Owen M-8).  Down a couple goals, the IceDogs would earn another power play, and with the goalie pulled, they did their all but finally succumbed 6-3 (after an empty net goal).
This was a loss on the scoreboard but a win in the coaches' eyes.  Every single player gutted out a game that they would have gave up on before the puck even dropped.  It's games like this that build character and teamwork and with reinforcements coming tomorrow, the IceDogs will be ready to earn a win on the scoreboard.
