PeeWee LL IceDogs Get Back in the Win Column!
Coming off a hard-luck loss in Wiarton, the AEMHA PeeWee LL IceDogs were looking to get a notch in the win column as they hosted the Walkerton Capitals on Saturday morning.

The IceDogs were all afire right from the get go in this one as they supported one another along the boards and in front of the net.  Countless turnovers ended up in scoring chances for the 'Dogs but they couldn't get the 2nd or 3rd chances to find the back of the net.  Walkerton would "capitalize" on a turnover at the blue line and take a 1-0 lead after one.

The 2nd period saw the the IceDogs continue their relentless attack and Avery D. would nick the twine on a great net drive by Alex L.   The Capitals were being outplayed but made good on their chances and found the back of the net again to re-take the lead.  Dominick E. would get a nifty tip in goal (his first of the season) off a blast from the point by Colby H. and the IceDogs had knotted things up at 2 midway through the frame.  Once again, the Capitals would score and the IceDogs were trailing by 1 at the end of 2.

Undaunted by their bad-luck, the IceDogs went back to work in the third.  Ryan P would get the preverbal monkey off his back by ripping home his first of the season off a rebound by Eric G. and the game was tied again.  The tie was short lived however as the Capitals got a seeing eye goal to re-take the lead. It was their last of the game.  Captain Colby H. took matters into his own hands with a hard rush to the net to tie things up and Avery D. would finish the scoring by ripping a backhand (assisted by Austin G.) a la Crosby to give the IceDogs the lead they so richly deserved.  A determined last shift by Walkerton almost got them back in it but the IceDogs held on for a 5-4 win.

It was great to see the IceDogs rewarded for their smart play and hard-work.  There is still a bit of work to do but it appears this IceDog squad has turned the corner and is ready to put some W's on the board.
