Heartbreaking, Hard Fought Loss to Hanover - Playoff Game #3
The AEMHA PeeWee LL IceDogs were fresh off a big win on the road last night to run their playoff record to 2-0.  Up next, the Falcons were in town for a re-match and looking to avenge last night's loss.

One would have thought the Hanover squad would be the team quick out of the gate but it was the high-flying IceDogs that carried the play and kept the Falcons deep in their own zone.  A ton of shots toward the net were blocked or re-directed and the Hanover tender was equal to the task.  The Magic Man, Noah J, wasn't busy early on but was sharp when called upon and the game would be goal less after one period of play.

The second period was more of the same.  The IceDogs were skating and checking hard and while the game wasn't coming easy, they were doing a lot of the little things right.  A solid 4 minute penalty kill actually led to a few scoring chances for the 'Dogs and the red-hot goaltending of the the Falcon net minder was definitely the only reason the IceDogs weren't in the lead as the 2nd period horn sounded.

The third period had the IceDogs come out flying once again but it was lucky bounce the other way that gave the Falcons the opening goal and a 1-0 lead early in the third.  As the period ticked away, play became quite scrambly and there wasn't a lot of open ice for the IceDogs to work with.  Another lucky bounce went the Falcon's way and they were up 2-0 with 2 minutes left to play.  A last minute flurry with the goalie out had the IceDogs rookie winger, Eric G., bang home a rebound but the Falcons would ride their goalie to a 2-1 win.

Not much to say in this one---that's playoff hockey and the IceDogs did all they could in this one but couldn't get the bounce they needed.  Next up, the IceDogs tangle with Saugeen Shores in a game that should be a beauty.
