The Playoffs Are Upon Us--Game #1 vs Owen Sound
The AEMHA PeeWee LL IceDogs had been playing playoff style hockey since the Christmas Break so they were primed and ready to get things started in Owen Sound on Sunday afternoon.

Owen Sound and AEMHA had played a few weeks back with the IceDogs proving victorious in a tight checking affair.  The two teams started things off rather tentatively and played a lot of scrambly hockey for the first few shifts.  Captain Colby would break free from his own end and rip a low hard blast into the Owen Sound net to get the IceDogs on the board.  The IceDogs began to take the play to Owen Sound as the first period came to a close but could only take a 1-0 lead into the intermission.

The 2nd period started with 2 quick IceDog strikes.  First, Avery D. would rip a shot that deflected off an Attacker (assisted by Dominick E.)  Avery and his line mates of Alek S. and Gavin H. would play a little plinko after that with Gavin ultimately tucking one home to get the IceDogs a well deserved 3-0 lead.  Owen Sound would begin to ramp up their play after that and a IceDog turnover would end up in the back of the net, with Owen Sound beginning to pressure.  The 2nd period would end with a score of IceDogs 3, Owen Sound 1.

Some aggressive play by the Attack would lead to a few more penalties but while the Owen Sound goalie wasn't particularly sharp, he made the saves none-the-less.  The IceDogs would come close but couldn't get the puck across the line.  A late Owen Sound goal would get them within 1 but the IceDogs held the fort and would skate away with a 3-2 win.

It wasn't picture perfect by any means but nice to get a win when you don't play your best.  With room to improve, a mid-week practice is just what the doctor ordered before they tangle with the Falcons in Hanover next Saturday in Game #2 of the playoffs.
