Luck Runs Out Against Lucknow
Lucknow came to Chesley and the Dogs just couldn't buy a goal!  It wasn't for a lack of effort though as Dog after Dog tried to get the team on the board. Lucknow had the luck and got one by our hardworking goalie.  Final 0 to 1.

The Dogs have been enjoying an excellent season and the fans have enjoyed the ride.  However, all good things must come to an end and it was Lucknow who broke our streak and it took until the third before even THAT happened.

The Lucknow spent significantly more time in the box than the Dogs and that means powerplay opportunities.  Dogs got their first one early in the first but despite some great chances in this one penalty alone, by Faust, Rourke and Hanna, their very large goalie covered a lot of net!  Brad had a great moment when Lucknow took exception to an interception and there was a demonstration of a baseball move: the swing and the miss.  However, the refs missed that one.  Defence on both sides was very busy.  Matt tied up sticks right and left and Lawson made a great breadbasket save at 4:44.  Dogs got one of their three penalties (Lucknow was over double that number) and while Jason T had a seat Brock and Brandon took it right to them.  However, there was no goals to report.  And I had the pen ready and everything...

Second period was much of the same with some great moments. Dogs kept the puck out of their end as much as possible. Rourke may have met his match in the checking department. Lucknow's goalie felt a bit crowded when everyone was in his crease at 14:24.  The slapper from the blue by Josh.  Mitch One (VV) with a theft on their forward and then ran it right to their goalie.  Jason T went end to end with a strong finish.  Chayse pulled a great puck theft.  Lawson with beauty saves, including one with the blocker at 9:25.  Clay had a great battle in the corner with two black shirts and won.  Lucknow went to the box again....and again.   And there were so many chances, by almost everyone on the team!!  It is honestly amazing, if you count the number of "almosts" the Dogs had in this period alone, that the score never got better than zero for us!  Lucknow shot up our bench at 10:57.  Both teams were putting it all out there.  Lucknow finally got lucky at 5:17 and got their goal.  And for the final five minutes, the Dogs did everything they could!  Spent all their time in the Lucknow end, and hammered away.  Pulled Lawson to give six skaters with more than a minute and half to go.  Unfortunately, the clock just ran out of time and the game was done.  Final 0 to 1.

Streak is done  THIS streak.  There is more to come!
