Dogs Get It Started and Brought It Home!
Game three in this series and the IceDogs were needed to get some numbers on the board.  In OT, the Dogs brought it and it was ours!  Final 4 for us and 2 for them.  Next game:  Drayton.

The IceDogs were meeting Drayton again, but this time in the Chesley arena.  The Dogs got to work from the very first whistle, so much so, that Josh broke his stick and in an attempt to keep Drayton away from our goal, ended up getting our first penalty of the game.  But our first goal of the game was not very far behind, thanks to a fine rush up the ice by Chayse that Faust later got control of and planted.  Fifteen seconds later, Dogs would also get a power play opportunity, from a call on Drayton for head contact, but the score remain one to zip.  Drayton was not sitting on their heels this period and both teams were digging in.  Brock got a call for interference at 2:46 but despite out shooting the Dogs this period, Lawson handed it well.  There was a heart-in-the-mouth moment, when the pucks popped out of the glove and almost bounced in behind our goalie, but the Gods of Hockey were on our side.

The second period was for the Dogs too, with Chayse getting an unassisted goal at 10:51 and then Taylor assisted Brandon to make it 3 to 0.  Dogs picked up another penalty and Drayton used it to make it 3 to 1.  The end of the period, it felt like Drayton was spending too much time in our end and Lawson had to go into his bag of goaltending tricks and pull out a backward save.  A great period!

The third was theirs, although both teams were quite close in actual shots.  But at 14:14, Drayton made it to two.  Dogs started to ice the puck and Fritz took a heck of a shot off his skate.  Mitch took a rocking hit and Hanna got sandwiched.  But Dogs kept it going.  With 1:13 left, Drayton put six skaters on the ice and at 10.7, there was a pile up on Lawson.  Dogs took their time out, but Drayton was fired up and with five seconds left, the score was tied!  That meant....overtime!

Overtime. Always exciting and this game didn't disappoint.  .  after five minutes of furious play, no team was ahead.  Then Lawson made an incredible toe save to keep the Dogs alive at 4:08.  And then!!!  Dogs get a goal with only 2:41 left, thanks to some hard skating by the whole team and a nod to Jason and goal to the Matrix.

Next game is in Drayton and I think the whole team will be back on their skates, ready to go hunting for goals!  Looking forward to cheering for that!
