Ice Dogs Defend Streak
With a game against the Drayton Defenders in Drayton, the IceDogs returned from a two goal deficit to continue their streak with a final score of 6 to 4.  Great hockey!

The IceDogs were missing a couple of great playmakers with both Mitch One (V) and Mason off to get healthy.  The Drayton Defenders were running three lines and the Dogs were going in with two.  Drayton also has some bouncy boards that made pucks take unexpected and sometimes, dangerous paths.  Both goalies would experience that.  The first period passed relatively uneventfully, however, there was a a Dog 5 on 3 opportunity for a whole nine seconds.  Score would remained at nil.

The Defenders received a few penalties this game and again, in the second the IceDogs would have another 5 on 3 powerplay.  Josh almost had it early in the powerplay but at 11:57, Matt got the puck over to Clayton and the Dogs were ahead.  Drayton did not sit back on their heels either.  Lawson was awesome with a great save at 11:50.  But even Lawson had to let the odd goal get by him, especially with some of the weird bounces, and by the final three minutes, the Defenders were in the lead with a scoreboard reading 3 for them and the Dogs still at one.  However, with only 1:26 left, Jason T, went on an epic tour and made it 2 for us.  Now the Dogs were only down by one...

The Dogs pulled out all the stops in the third.  Clayton made a beauty set up that Chayse fired in to tie it up.  Then Chayse made a fantastic wrap around opportunity that Mitch Two (based on chronological order) or the Fausty finalized.  Defenders put HUGE pressure on Lawson and he was more than up to the task.  He was making some very difficult saves.  And the rest of the team was working hard too!  Rourke delivered some strong checks.  Matt took one to the wrist.  Brock had some hard corner battling.  Then Brad fired a shot from the blue, that Chayse and then Mitch Two redirected to make it 5.  Dogs got another powerplay and half a minute later, Clay got his "Gord Howe" of the night.  Defenders returned to make it 5 to 4 with only 2:39 on the clock.  One minute after that, the Drayton team pulled their goalie and threw everything they had at Lawson.  Dogs hung in there and with .03, Brandon matrixed and made it one more.  What a ending!!  Final score of 6 Dog goals to 4 Defenders.  Keep that streak alive!!
