Dogs Aren't Blown Away By Cyclones
On the road again....to Listowel.  The AE IceDogs and the Listowel Cyclones played some board rumbling hockey Sunday and it was the IceDogs who brought home the win.  Final:  2 to 5.

Both teams were feeling ready to do some fast skating.  Lawson made his first save in the first minute and the Dogs returned the favour to their goalie.  Mason, with a great pass play by Chayse (and my notes have Brandon too) put the Dogs on the Board first.  The Cyclones received the first power play chance at 8:26 when Chayse went to the box to have his picture taken by team photographer.  Despite being down a skater, Faust still managed to put their goalie back on his heels.  However, Listowel would earn a goal at 7:30 to tie it up and they kept the pressure on.  Defence was busy.  Brad had his stick get away on him, but Josh backed up his partner.  Then the Dogs took the puck down to the other end.  Back and forth. Clay gave their defence alittle bump and grind.  And Mitch One and Mitch Two (or the Mitches) had a great rush.  But at 6:21, after making two beauty stops, the Cyclones managed to sneak one by Lawson's toe to put Listowel ahead.  Dogs battled back.  Matt had a beauty shot from the blueline, but was stopped and Jason T make a fine charge up the ice, but the score remained 2 to 1.

The second started with the first powerplay for the Dogs, but the Cyclones had a great penalty kill for that one.  Then, Cyclones got a second penalty.  Despite an all out charge, the Dogs would have to wait until 7:15 when Mason and Mitch got  it to Chayse during a barrage of shots to make it tied up.  Then Brandon returned to Matrix mode and got it over to Jason T  who gave the Dogs one more than the Cyclones.  The Dogs weren't done yet....with the final minute, Matt got the puck to Jason T, who battled it into the Listowel end and made it 4 for the Dogs with a hard low shot.  The period finished with a Dog penalty to Brock, who was able to get his picture taken too, at 17.3.

With a Dog in the glassbox, it meant the Cyclones would start the third with a renewed desire to improve on their score.  However, the Dogs weren't going to allow that!  Even though the Dogs would send one another rep, this time Rourke, to the box to get some portrait work done, Listowel was unable to increase their talley.  Lawson made save after save, even one off his shoulder!  But when the Cyclones had to spend some time in the box of shame at 6:58, the Dogs took advantage.  My notes have that Mitch Faust battled the puck out of the corner and with his linemates, worked it to the front, where Faust got the nod for a shot under the blocker.  According to the sheet, they saw Brock with the final whack.  I leave it up to parental review for the stats.  However, it did not change the final:  5 goals for the Dogs!  Cyclones kept trying to get another goal, but Lawson was awesome.    The final few seconds saw one more penalty for the Dogs, but Jason T refused all picture taking.  (Until the day the Parent Rep gets that photographer a practice for official shots, then he will smile!)  Final score:  5 for us and 2 for them.  Streak continues!
