Clinton tourney was a sweet success !!!
The bantam LL Ice Dogs played three games on the weekend and came out as the Consolation Champs.
The first game against Mitchell was not what we travelled down to Clinton to prove, as we played a 'stinker' of a game and came out with a 4-1 loss, with Todd J scoring our only goal on a wrap-a-round.
Game two against Blythe/Brussels was a different matter, with us playing a back and forth game, and trailing 1-0 going into the second period, Parker H fired a shot of the post, quickly followed by Todd J tapping in the rebound to tie it. Later on, Brandon PP tried a deke, and after a great goalie save, Mitch VV shoved in the rebound putting the Dogs up 2-1 going into the third. This period was a mad rush, and ended with a goalie pull, a lost goalie stick, and a squeaker 2-1 win and off to Sundays Consolation final.
Game three was against South Huron and we started off good with Todd J taking a shot and Parker potting the rebound to tie it at ones after the first period. The second period was again another back and forth game, making us very nervous ( right ML ), with Todd almost scoring on a breakaway .... And hitting the post. Quickly after tho, Mitch VV forced the puck in front of the net and Tyler C roofed it, only 5 feet out, into the net putting us up 2-1 going into the third period. This period was another race to the end, as Brandon PP made a great pass to a streaking Todd J, making it 3-1. After a late goal by South Huron made it 3-2, penalties came into play, which made it very very interesting ... But we prevailed and celebrated a hard fought Consolation Finals win !!!
