Game Four: Rebels No More!
IceDogs were in Keady and the game against the Rebel was some of the best nail bitting action of the whole year.  There is nothing better than an overtime win, on a penalty kill with 29 seconds left on the board, giving a Dog a hattrick,  to win a WOAA TROPHY! Final 3 to 2.

The Rebels were in a do or die situation and they dominated the first period.  Again, the Dogs would be without Corson on the defensive line, but Chase again stepped into the position.  The Soup got their first shot on Tyson in the first nine seconds and they kept the pressure on.  Tyson made some mighty stops in this fourth game of the series. First penalty of the game was to the IceDogs and the Rebels capitalized on it.  0 to 1.  When the Doggies got their first powerplay at 2:37, they were not as fortunate as the Soup, so the score remained the same at the whistle, signaling the end of the first.

But the Dogs would not remain scoreless for long.  At 13:28, Mitch would take a shot that was deflected right on to Braydon's stick and he put it away!  It was the start for Braydon of a game that would get him out of his chores for a week.  Now it was 1 to 1.  Rebels would go ahead again just over a minute later when the puck didn't get over our blueline and they snagged it.  1 to 2.  However, the Dogs weren't quitting.   Dan put on a defensive clinic and even was on the ice blocking shots to keep the puck in Soup's end.  Clayton was a master thief again, working the stick and Brad got a shot away on the Soup goalie.  Conor tried to get something going and his line was flying!  Tyson kept making save after save:  glove save, pad save, stick save, awesome save.  Spencer nicely snuck by the Rebels and almost got one. The fans were standing on their chairs!   When the second finished, the Rebels were still ahead one.

The third period started with Tyson besieged by Rebels and holding them off.  Rebels were starting to feel the pressure since they had a series of offsides that is traditionally unusual for them.  The IceDogs, however, were just starting to come into their own.  McKay got a nice shot away.  Brett had a beauty run.  Chase brought out his big shot.  Will was working hard.  The IceDogs were bulldogs!  Then....at 6:55, with a throw pass from the defence to Mitch, to Spencer, to Braydon, who tied it up again!!  2 to 2.  Clayton had a great run, muscling his way to their end, but the Soup were working on getting under the skin and the Dogs received their second penalty that turned out to be a four minute. But the Soup pulled a penalty too, so they only had a one man advantage for  two minutes and not four.  Despite being shorthanded, the Dogs increased the pressure.  Brad took a run.  Chase took a run.  It was an excellent penalty kill for us.  Brad ran the puck into their end again and was rewarded with a push from behind.  Then it was the Soup's turn to demonstrate their penalty killing techniques. In fact we had a two man advantage, but the Rebels played a tight game and forced the game into overtime!

The third period is usually the final period of a hockey game but not in this series. Overtime again.  Mitch took it right to their goalie in the first 15 seconds but no goal.  Tyson made more of his awesome saves with his quick reflexes.  Spencer was digging out the puck like a terrier.  Braydon was all over the ice.  Then at 2:23, Tyson has a pile up in front of his net, but he shut the door to the Soup.  The final two minutes were INTENSE!  At 1:33, the Doggies pulled a penalty.  Rebels called their usual time out to discuss it.  The Dogs intently listened to Coach Richard.  Then, it was skates flashing and pucks passing!  With 30 seconds left, Clayton fired the puck up to the forward, who was Braydon, who, according to my notes:  "FREAKING SCORES!"  Hattrick to number 25 with 29 seconds left!  The Dogs win and then....someone brought out a trophy from the WOAA and it was ours!!  Final score 3 to 2!!

IceDogs!!  We salute you!
