An OT Bite From The Vipers
Playing on Monday night on our Chesley ice, the Arthur Vipers and the IceDogs skated to another fast action tie, that had to be settled during a period four.  Dogs played a fine game but Vipers struck first.  Final 4 to 5.

For the second encounter between the IceDogs and the Arthur Vipers, both teams were focused and bringing their A-game.  Both sides tested the goalies and both were ready.  The action was end to end.  First penalty went to the Dogs for Clayton keeping the stick on the ice and a Viper tripping over it.  Arthur demonstrated on some fine stickhandling during this powerplay but Ty was solid in the net and Chase showed them 'great' and kept control away from them to run down the clock.  Mitch went for a run, was denied and then returned again, from a pass from Brad, to get the Dogs the first goal.   The Vipers came back full forced and Tyson spent the final couple of minutes making save after save, including an awesome triple stop at 1:53.  The defense was busy too!  Dan made a great clearing play and Brad made his own toe save.  But the IceDogs held on to that slim lead to the buzzer.

The Vipers went right back onto the rush and Clayton and Corson shut it down with great passing.  But the Vipers were skating hard and kept returning to our end.  Tyson made two stops but the Vipers kept going to make the score 1 to 1.   Then a minute later it was 1 to 2.  Dogs rallied, with Corson's hard shot that made contact with their goalie.  Spencer, Braydon and Mitch had a great battle, but the Viper goalie was solid.  Chase fired the cannon but still the Dogs were denied.  Vipers picked up their first penalty at 7:42 and puck drop was in the Viper end.  Dogs attacked.  But that darn goalie!  Despite all the shots, the score didn't change.  At the end of the powerplay, Corson went for a run and had almost the whole Viper team chasing him.  The Blondie line came out and used their fast skating and passing, but still it remained 1 to 2.

The usually-the-last period started with Vipers in our end.  Tyson made an awesome sliding glove save!  Then Will got the puck and muscled it into their end and Brett finished the job.  Tied!  Vipers didn't sit back though and a minute later, their forwards got behind our defenders and juuuusst slid it passed Tyson's outstretched toe.  2 to 3.  Fans were on the edge of their seats!  At 9:30, Brad sent the puck to Mitch who made a fantastic run and scored.  3 to 3.  Dogs kept passing and playing.  Chase was close.  Dan got a stick to the solar plexus that only briefly slowed his roll.  Dogs were skating well.  And they were rewarded, with assists to Braydon and Spencer and Mitch, who got his hattrick for all his hard work!  But there were five minutes still on the clock.  Tyson, with support from a fast backskating forward, Brett, kept the score from changing.  The Viper goalie robbed the IceDogs over and over again.  But the Vipers get an interference penalty at 3:15 and the fans were actually quiet for a full ten seconds!  Dan created a beauty moment with a pass to Chase but that darn goalie!  Corson fired another on-target shot but still...nope.  The Vipers brought the play back to our end and after a scramble, they tied it up 4 to 4 at 2:04.  The final two minutes put a load of pressure on Tyson and his defenders.  Dan made an awesome diving stretch.  Tyson's glove caught two.  Arthur called a timeout.  Vipers returned, firing pucks, but Tyson was awesome.  The buzzer sounded.  Overtime again.

Overtime anytime!  That means both teams have played an awesome game.  And since it was our goalie's birthday, and he has been wonderful the whole year,  I would like to type that we skated right down to that darn Viper goalie and planted that puck in the back Arthur's net at 7:14.  Then we ate brownies.
