Dogs Take The Drive For A Ride
Meeting in Paisley, the IceDogs met the Milverton Drive for game two and once the Dogs started scoring goals, they didn't stop!  When everyone plays up to their best abilities, the Dogs are something else!  Final 9 to 4.

Tonight, it would be Milverton that would be making the long car ride.  They came out shooting.  First shot on Tyson was in the first seven seconds and he then made a glove save another seven seconds later.  The Drive was wanting to get that first goal.  But they didn't.  At 8:34, Will pushed the puck into their zone, and set up a nice pass play to Brett, who sent it to Brad who fired it at their goal.  Now we were on the board.  IceDogs were inspired and the Milverton goalie had a lot of pucks coming his way this period.  Mitch had a nice rush, Chase hit the post, Will with a great lift, Braydon with a nice theft during their rush and our defence were breaking out with runs from Clayton, Corson and Brad.  The next goal would be with another example of excellent passing with Braydon, Spencer and Mitch, who made it 2 to 0.  Then Spencer would put the puck away for 3 to 0, after some stick smacking and whacking, with assist to Braydon and Mitch.  Dogs were rolling.  However, first penalty of the game was ours as well and that gave the Drive the first powerplay.  They tried, but the Dogs were on a great penalty kill.  Dan saved our bacon when Tyson made a great stop but couldn't get to the puck to smother it.  That kept the score at 3 to 0.

Period two stared with Chase bringing out the fancy stickwork and putting another point on the board at 14:39.  As I have said before though, Milverton isn't a team that just gives up!  They came back with a big push into our zone and made it 4 to 1.  And with a cannon shot from the blueline, they made it 4 to 2.  Our forward line got back to work.  Brett was in the Drive's way, using his stick and his feet.  (In fact, this game, the Dogs were exceptional in using their feet!)  Corson tied up sticks and stepped in front of their shots.  At 4:59, a great shift by Chase, Brett and Will ended with another goal, with Will putting it past their goalie at the corner.  5 to 2.  The Doggies got the next penalty for inappropriate hugging (Will?  What is it about that 15?  I like him!)  but the Drive couldn't get another number on the board yet.  Their powerplay passed without notice.  IceDogs would get noticed though, when B-rad went coast to coast at 1:40 and made it 6 to 2.  Milverton skated right back to our end and with a battle, made it 6 to 3.  The final minute was exciting.  Tyson made a lovely save.  Spencer got his head squished but was ok. Second ended at 6 to 2.

The final period, Mitch took a fast dig up the ice, skating around their players and made it 7 to 3.  Drive came back and Tyson made a great pad save but Milverton got the rebound.  7 to 4.  Dogs tried to increase that score.  Clayton and Chase tried to make it 8, but denied.  Braydon tapped the top bar and I thought it looked good, but the refs disagreed.  Corson had a fine run started but the Drive tangled him up.  Dan was just as frustrating to them though, but not letting the puck out of their end.  Mitch went end to end, but their goalie had a great save on that one!  Dogs kept skating.  From a great pass from Brett, Will made it 8 at 3:41.  The next goal would be ours too, with another excellent moment from Mitchell. 9 to 4.  The final three minutes saw the IceDogs get another penalty and the Drive had a powerplay for a minute, until they too get a penalty.  Four hockey players versus four.  And these skaters skated for every last second.  The final second saw a great hard shot from Brad that looked like it could have been a goal, but the buzzer sounded.  Final:  9 to 4.  A fine outing by the IceDogs!

Keep up that passing and working together, Dogs!
