Game Two and Soup Wins One Too
Playing in Keady, the IceDogs and Rebels met for their second of this series and the Dogs were missing the bigger ice surface.  Despite a cramped passing game, the Dogs did well, but the Soup did better.  Final 3 to 5.

The IceDogs and Rebels always have good games to watch.  This game was no exception.  The Soup started this game with a desperate need to tie the series.  This desperation can have a rallying effect, which was shown in the first period with the majority of play in our end.  But it can also bring a darker shade to the game, which would be in evidence later.  Tyson made the first save of the game at 8:47 and continued to slap the pads down and block the goal line beautifully.  The IceDogs wouldn't get their first shot on the Soup goalie until 5:11 by Spencer.  Both teams flew up and down the ice and kept the game clean.  First goal was by the Soup at 2:40 but the IceDogs answered that goal less than a minute later with a pass from Will to Chase who pushed the puck into their end and sealed the deal.  1 to 1.  Then, with 52 seconds, left on the clock, Tyson made the save, the puck was popped out of his glove and the Rebels went ahead. 1 to 2.

The next period, Dogs came out running with Brett trying to get the tie but no luck.  IceDogs got the first penalty and the Rebels the first powerplay, but our defence was strong and there was no change in the score.  The Rebels kept the team busy though and Tyson especially, who used his glove to bring down several shots. This was our period.  Corson and Clayton were setting up some great chances by sending the puck up. Danny was stealing the puck every time it was near him. That long reach of Conor was put to good use. The next powerplay was ours and there were some great chances but the Soup were having a good penalty killing night too.  The Doggies would end this period back with a tied score, with great team work, Spencer and Braydon put the puck right on Mitch's stick and with a nice lift over the goalie, it was now 2 to 2.

This final period was a bit slushy.  The tempers on the ice and on the benches were starting to fray.  Despite Tyson's best efforts, the Soup would get three goal this period and one was a strange bounce off Tyson's pads that was impossible to even read!  But Tyson saved double or triple what got by him!  Dogs kept skating but Rebels were getting some instruction to make the game tougher and rougher.  In the final three minutes, the Rebels would have two sent to the box, we would have one, Corson would get his bell rung off our goal post with no call, and the Rebels would call a timeout (because they love those and they get to!) and it was all very exciting. The IceDogs were not content to leave the scoreboard reading 2 to 5, so with a great pass play from number 24  (scoresheet) or from number 9 (my notes) to Clayton (both agree) with only 17 seconds left on the clock, the game ended with a final of 3 for us and 5 for them.  Dogs will put the bite on the Rebels next in Tara!  Sic 'em!
