IceDogs Let Lakers Play Another Day
Despite a fast and furious start to this third game by the IceDogs, the Lakers did not want the series to be over this early.  With a few seconds left, they pulled ahead by a single point.  Final 4 to 5.  Next game goes to Paisley.

The IceDogs started this third game with two fast goals.  First Mitch at 9:39 with the assists to his line, Spencer and Braydon, and our second goal by Brett with his line of Will and Chase at 9:06.  Taking such a commanding and early lead made the Dogs sit back on their heels a little too much and Shallow Lake was in a do or die situation.  The Lakers kept entering our end and at 7:33, they were finally on the board.  The Blondie line decided to put some insurance on the board with a great drop and pick play with Brett, Will and Chase finally putting that puck right under their goalie.  3 to 1.  But this score would not last the first period.  With only 19.7 left on the clock, Shallow Lake again slipped behind our defence and made it 2 for them.

The second period saw some excellent saves by Tyson but the rest of the Dogs were feeling a bit slushy and Shallow Lake capitalized on it with a goal at 9:09 and another at 8:36 to pull ahead on the scoreboard.  The Dogs perked up again and after a frenzy of swinging sticks and whacks at the puck,  Mitch and Braydon even it up again. 4 to 4.   We almost get the go ahead with another wild scramble in front of their goalie but the puck slid past after the whistle had sounded.  It would remain tied at 4.

The third saw the return to the ice of the team with a renewed vigour.  Tyson had to spin some magic between the posts, but his defence was diligent in moving Lakers out of the way.  Brad had a shot from the blueline but no goal. Corson and Clayton had a good puck move set up.  Danny was solid and kept the Lakers chasing the puck away from our end.  But no goal!  The IceDogs played a very clean game and did not get even one penalty, but the Coach of the Lakers cannot say the same.  Sometimes, it is better to just 'think it' and not 'say it'.   Unfortunately depite this great opportunity, the Dogs couldn't get that darn puck in their net!  But the Lakers did, with a minute and half left.  4 to 5.  For the final 43 seconds, the IceDogs went for "No Guts, No Glory" and pulled Tyson to put an extra skater on the ice.  The puck only escaped the Lakers' end once, and while there was a moment of concern, it didn't go into our net.  The Dogs moved into their end and stayed there until the final whistle, however, there will still be a fourth game in this series.  Dogs will be finishing this series next game in Paisley!
