WOW, WHAT AN IMPROVEMENT
As, I was watching this game, I am not sure what happened to the Ice Dogs! Perhaps, it was the new socks or name bars but the Dogs have started to come together as a pack.
Nathan got his start as today's goalie and he played with heart. He had tons of shots and kept our Dogs in the game. Everything from a stick save to a pad save was shown. Great job Nathan!! The Ice Dogs battled hard along the boards, digging out that puck and making a number of super passes. The improvement with remembering off-sides was huge, way to go Dogs!! It was a edge-of-your-seat kind of game, with parents, grandparents and many other family members cheering on both sides. Bruce Pen scored a nice goal, but our Dogs did not give up. We all thought that Tina had scored a great goal, over the goalie's shoulder, but that puck came right back out! It did cause some excitement for a minute. George had a great rush, but was stopped by Bruce Pen. Our "D" of Halle, Gracie, Wyatt and Austin were fantastic on the blue line, chipping that puck back into the Predator's end. Kolby played his first game out from the pipes and showed strong skating skills back and forth. A strong forwards of Ryan, Joshua and JJ proved that size isn't important as much as playing with a sense of determination and team spirit. Tori was up and down her side of the ice, getting that puck and was awarded the hardest working player of the game puck.
All of the pack are congratulated on their hard work, team sportsmanship and for their love of the sport. With each game and practice, we can see that large improvements that have been accomplished both individually and as a team. Way to go Ice Dogs!! Final score was 1-0 for the Predators.
Next up for the team, practice on Thursday night, 6pm in Tara, followed by a game on Sunday at high noon also in Tara. So, if you want to see some great local talent, come on out and cheer on the novice Dogs as they take on the Saugeen Storm!!
Keep your stick on the ice and remember to check for the jersey colour and not take the puck from your own team player!!
