Miracle on ice?
As Christmas approaches, you can't help but feel the spirit of the season in the air.  So as you sit down to watch A Christmas Carol tonight, ask yourself: Are miracles possible?  The answer for this manager--yes they are.  I've seen it.  I was there.

In a hockey season where points have been rarer than presents after a Grinch raid, this manager finally saw something to this point only rumoured--an Ice Dog win.  In a pre-Christmas tilt with the Rebels from Chatsworth, both teams offered up a treat more appetizing than a Christmas dinner--a back and forth battle that seemed anyone's game.

Baden broke the scoring in the second, a goal that held up til the third when the scoreboard was lit up like a Christmas tree.  Brett scored the season's highlight goal on a Bobby-Orr-like rush that wound up top shelf where Grandma keeps the cranberries.  Following his goal TCD jumped back in the game forcing the hand of the Dogs to step up.  Both sides traded gifts, but on this night, goals from Spenser and Braydon in the third proved we had a few more surprises in our stocking, and in the end, we sealed the deal with a 4-3 win. As impressive as the win, was the way the Dogs pulled together...a team of reindeer hauling around the big man.  Assists went out to Will, Clayton, and Colton...backing their team mates like a bunch of elves meeting a hectic deadline.

And so, at the end of the match, a certain manager stood up, pulled a virtual "monkey" off his back, and exclaimed loudly, "Merry Christmas to all, and to all a good night."  (Clearly now the curse rests with Sarah, who missed the game down in Whoville.)

So, who says Christmas miracles aren't real?  If you listened carefully on your way out of the Tara barn tonight, you may have heard it.  Over the din of the rink, if you listened hard, you may have heard the chorus of angels...

The Dogs next action after Saturday's practice is on the 23rd when they host the Lakers.
