Holiday exhibition games good playoff prep
The Ice Dogs had a couple of holiday showdowns against Bruce Peninsula.  Both games gave the Dogs a chance to hone some skills for the playoff sched, which is just around the corner.

On the 28th, the Ice Dogs outplayed the Predators but managed only the tie on a controversial goal or two.  Clayton and Will added singles for the home side, and once again, Tyson offered some timely saves when the momentum might have shifted.

On January 2nd, the Ice Dogs travelled back to Wiarton for the second half of the home-and-home, and although they dropped the affair 4-0, the game was much closer than the score indicated.  One of the many positives taken from the loss was a notable increase in the number of shots directed at the Wiarton net.  Many did not get through the crowd of legs from the collapsed defenders, but several did.  The Ice Dogs did not give up despite being shut out.  Passing and positional play--while still needing work--are improving.

The Dogs next ice time is in Paisley on Saturday.  Following this practice, the team should have their playoff schedule early next week.

Happy New Year to all the players and their families on behalf of the coaching staff.
