Ice Dogs roughed up on Laker Day
Backed by Kraft Canada, Shallow Lake hosted Laker day on Saturday--a fundraiser for minor hockey and the local food bank. But inside the rink there was little in the way of hospitality: the Lakers were rough hosts for our Ice Dogs.
A highly polished Laker team put on a clinic in passing and checking en route to a decisive win. But talk in the Dogs room post game was about building on positives--being a little grittier and a little more tenacious on the puck and in front of the Laker net. And to be honest, there were some positives to extoll: Clayton played a determined game, scoring one and getting a second good chance. Annie and Danny adapted to the swarming Laker offence, and Dylan made some chances happen mid-ice on his line.
With a few games between this and a needed practice, the Dogs will try to focus on a few of these issues. Keep your heads up Ice Dogs...you have more in you. A little more focus and determination will go a long way.
The second meeting of this home-and-home with Shallow Lake takes place in Paisley on Wednesday.
