Icedogs bite back to even the series at 1 game each.....
On a beautiful Sunday afternoon your U11 Reps packed their bags yet again and headed East back to the Shallow Lake arena with one thing on their minds.... to even up the series with a win!!
The fans came from near and far to cheer on both sides, cowbells, airhorns, pretty much any noise maker one could find. It was loud and it was AWESOME!!

TEAM, we play as one, we lose as one, and we win as one. The acronym goes Together, Everyone, Achieves, More. Today that couldn't have been more true!
As Icedogs took the ice they came out with grit, determination, and a drive I haven't seen before, this was the best hockey I think I have ever seen them play, just as Coach Brent says "PLAYOFF HOCKEY, I love Playoff hockey"!!
First period started off fast and furious, kind of like a rollercoaster at Canada's Wonderland, There were some ups and downs but it was all fast! The kids in Red were all over the puck spending most of the first period in the Lakers zone, which resulted in Landry W netting his 19th assisted by Bennett B at 7:51. But those Lakers were quick to retaliate and answered right back just 20 seconds later giving us one a piece. That would end the first.
Second period was much like the first and actually quite similar to yesterdays game, with some very defensive play. However after just under 8 minutes of back and forth play Landry W comes up big and finds the back of the net again raising the Icedogs up 2-1 with help from his line mate Paysen H. For the rest of the second we played the safe game, get it out and go get! Keeping the Lakers off the board was the goal with Jack T solid between the pipes!
Intermission, or as they call it the "Flood", gave our troops a little extra time to gather their strength and rest up for the longest period of the game..
Third period your U11 reps came out HOT, just as the coaches told them to do! Another action packed period kept the Icedog MOMS on the edge of their seats, but to ease some of pain Hunter T, unassisted pots one just 47 seconds in giving Icedogs a 3-1 lead, a little breathing room if you will.. With some strong defense from Avery, Sam, Landon, and Bronson the Icedogs were able to hold the Lakers back, but after 6 mins the Lakers finally got through and squeaked one past Jack.. but its ok, we had the wiggle room.. again with the back and forth and end to end the Icedogs were doing all they could to keep the Lakers out of our end, 4 minutes went by and they got past our defense, tying the game at 3! Que the sweats, nerves, and the chest pains.... the clock was winding down and we were running outta time, lakers pulled their goalie for the extra man, but with just 20 seconds remaining Landry W gets his third of the game to complete the hat trick and the game winning goal. Like I have said before Playoff hockey is anyone's game, and today it was ours!! Coach Jay says hats off to Coach Brent for managing the Forwards door, and successfully getting through the game without a "too many men" penalty. In order for these goals to happen there is a lot of "behind the scenes" that go on. Every player contributes in their own unique way. So very proud of this crew. Today was huge for us!
Next action will see the Icedogs at the Ol Tara Barn on Wednesday March 23 at 5:45pm for game 3. Come on out and cheer them on, cowbells, horns, clappers, even pots and pans welcome!!
