Shallow Lake Bee's kinda Sting a Bit...........
Early Saturday afternoon your U11 Reps made the trek over to Shallow Lake to start our 6 point OMHA Semifinals series. This game brought out quite the crowd, it was awesome to see the stands full of family and friends cheering for both sides. The Shallow Lake crew is always fun to play, it's great hockey with a side of friendship!

The first period started off slow, after having a week off from the Elmvale tourney we were just a little rusty. Shallow Lake was all over us, kind of like a bee that just won't leave you alone, the more you swat at it the madder it gets then you get stung, which is exactly what happened. Shallow lake blocked every pass, kept the puck in our end, and we got stung, shallow lake got on the board first. After our crew regrouped we played a little game of get the puck out of our end and Shallow Lake dumps it back in. It was a little sloppy at times and the Icedogs were trying so hard to get the puck into Shallow Lakes end but as the clock was winding down they managed to get another goal in net. ending the first 2-0, not ideal but we can still work with that..
Second period, again started off a little slower then we like, but it wasn't long before we picked up the pace. We had a few attempts and rushes and getting into Shallow Lakes end but yet again wherever we went, there they were. The 5 yellow bees buzzing around like they were at picnic on a beautiful summers day, one to many swats and the stinger came out yet again putting Lakers up 3-0 mid way through the second. The wind was slowly changing directions as Connor H found himself out head with the puck and a shot on net resulted in getting your Icedogs on the board and back in the game, with assist's going to Avery W and Hunter T. Icedogs had a little more pep in their step now. The second would end 3-1.
Third period, Icedogs had a little longer break today with the old fashion "flood between 2nd and 3rd" for the Icedogs to chew on. Coming out well rested and ready to play, Shallow Lake found themselves in some penalty trouble early to start, Icedogs capitalized on that with Paysen H netting his 19th at 11:11 assisted by Landry W closing the gap by one more. Now we have a game folks. Defense was strong as per usual, Bronson, Landon, Avery and Sam shutting down the lakers and Jack T holding them off the board. Forwards had their work cut out for them, but forwards do what they are told and that is to battle hard for loose pucks with Jackson M swatting at a rebound,  the puck ends up in top left corner of the net, Landry W with the helper tying the semi final up at 3 all. Fans on the edge of their seats, and cowbells going crazy holy mackinaw we have a game. After that goal both teams played the defensive game hard, no one wanting to make a mistake and leave their position, but that one pesky Laker got left unattended, and scored the game winner. Icedogs pulled their goalie to get the extra man on ice with a minute left, with seconds left they gave all they had dug deep and tried as hard as they could but there just wasn't enough time. Buzzer went and that's the game.
Game 2 is tomorrow Shallow Lake @2pm. Bring your cowbell and cheer on this great group of kids. They would love to see you!!
