And we are off, your U11 Reps are headed to their first weekend tourney away, that has been 2 years in the making, or as coach Jay would say 103 weeks to be exact.

This time 2 years ago when the world shut down your U9 reps were to be heading to Ayr for the Silverstick, but our fun weekend away was ruined by covid. Now here we are the same week 2 years later heading to the Elmvale Maple Syrup tournament, covid restrictions lifting but still having an impact on our team as we headed out down a defense, we missed you this weekend Sam F it just wasn't the same without you. We hope you're feeling better and ready to start the next round of playoff!
To be honest I'm not sure who was more excited about this weekend, the kids or the parents!
We arrived in Midland Friday morning for our first game where we would take on the Seaforth Stars, this game we would go on to win 2-1. After the game the team headed to the hotel to check in and settled in our rooms. The excitement of the kids and siblings as they ran around checking out everyone's room, making plans to go swimming after our next game, and just the all around commotion from everyone was such a welcoming noise. It was almost like things were back to normal.  It was time to head back to the arena where we would meet the Penetang Flames, keeping in mind that these centers are Bs (we are a DD) and our crew pulled off another win the score 6-4. After our game we headed to Boston Pizza for a team dinner, let me tell you, it was such an awesome experience. The kids were so well behaved, parents did ok as well;) After our supper kids went swimming, played some tag and just did what kids do.. Had fun. Coach Brent wanted kids in bed earlier as we had a big game Saturday morning, kids listened, Parents not so much.. like I said Im not sure who was more excited for this weekend, but I think its safe to say it was the parents!!
After breakfast Saturday morning our crew took a dip in the pool then we loaded up and headed to Elmvale for our game against the Collingwood Jr Blues.. Guys this team was a BB and we tied them 1-1, I will say that is a win right there. We held them off and they were shifty! Jack T was practically standing on his head keeping them off the board, (good thing we had Sweet Willy H in for a period during previous game so Jack could rest up) So proud of this crew. we are off to the SEMI's we would be meeting the hosts of the tourney the Elmvale Coyotes, another BB center.. Now the Coyotes, this team I think thought we would be a cake walk but like I have said before we are a force, we dig deep, we win battles, we get goals! We took this team to Overtime, something I don't think they are used to just going by the dads that were yelling at the refs and the kids. Unfortunately we didn't get the winning goal, but I would say that it was a win for us!! The final score 5-4. This weekend we came to have fun and play some good hockey, we were successful on both of those accounts. This team is much more then just a team, we have become a family and there is nothing better then Hockey families. These are our people, we take care of each other, cheer each other on. This weekend also helped us prepare for our upcoming series against Shallow Lake, our first game is Saturday in Shallow Lake at 1pm. Come cheer us on, bring your cowbell, horn, or any noise maker you have.. Let's go get Icedogs.
