Well rested and ready for action
What's better then freshly flooded ice, the smell of sweaty hockey gear, rushing through supper to get to the arena on time, seeing kids play the sport they love, all while starting playoffs? The answer is NOTHING! Nothing is better then playoffs!!

After having about 6 weeks off from sports this crew didn't skip a beat, ok maybe they skipped a couple beats, again proving just how resilient these kids are! We don't give kids enough credit for how they have handled all the slap shots Covid has shot at them, but once again the stands were filled with family, and the benches were filled with eager players and coaches. The puck is dropped and playoffs have begun. Man what a time to be alive.
The U11 Reps started game one of their 6 game round robin playoffs Thursday night in Keady.
The first period took your U11 a few minutes to find their groove, but give them a break they hadn't played a game in over 6 weeks. After the Icedogs found their groove the magic started to happen, couple of penalties for both sides, not gonna lie things looked a little sloppy. A lot of back and forth and end to end, Icedogs finally found the back of the net and that is all it took to get them off and scoring.
This game was about teammates, it was about getting back into the swing of things, something normal for these kids. As we managed to get through the last 6 weeks, we as parents thought they were doing ok. We took them to outdoor rinks thinking that was enough to give them even a little bit of social interaction. But being in the dressing room the laughter and conversation, just the fact that they can resume playing the game they love is all they needed
We had a lot of contributions from all team members too many to list ( Congrats going to Landry W and Paysen H on their first career playoffs hat tricks) and Jack T earning another shutout with a 10-0 final.  It didn't matter who won this game it was about being together as a team again, Hockey Families are the best! The first game is under their belts and they are excited to play again.
Next action will see your U11 Reps take on the Central Perth Predators Saturday February 19 at 12:15pm in Paisley.
