Comeback win In Keady
With a break in the stormy weather on Sunday the Atom LL Red team traveled to Keady to lace up the skates against the TCDMHA Rebels.  This would be the first meeting of these two teams this season and both teams were raring to go.

The game started at a furious pace with the Rebels pressing the play right from the drop of the puck.  Fortunately, Ice Dog goalie Noah J. was up to the challenge and turned them away early.  After this early wake up call the Ice Dogs went to work and with some great chances at both ends, followed by some great saves at both ends, the fast and furious pace would continue for the entire period.   However, the pace would only serve to heighten the excitement for period two as period one ended tied at 0-0.

Period two started the same way as period one with both teams going on the attack.  Again fast and furious at both ends with neither team willing to give up that all important first goal.  With chances at both ends it was to be Ice Dog Avery D. who would finally break the stalemate with a nice top corner goal to put the Ice Dogs up by one.  The play would continue to be intense and eventually the pace would result in a penalty to the Rebels for hooking.  Some more great chances were to be had during the power play including a beautiful cross-crease pass that rolled off the heel of the stick of Kiernan L. before he could get the shot off at the open net.  The Rebels would survive the penalty unscathed and manage to find a path to the back of the Ice Dog net at 5:36 to even the score at one all.  After that the goalies at both ends put a stop to all other efforts by both teams, and period two would also end in a tie score at 1-1.

With the excitement continuing to build into period three both teams were throwing everything they could at the goalies to no avail. At 10:06 Maddux O. took a body contact penalty and the Ice Dogs went on the penalty kill.  They would manage to kill of the penalty, but at the 8 minute mark of the third period the Rebels would find the back of the Ice Dog net and go ahead by one.  There was more non-stop action from one end to the other, and the excitement continued to build.  even the posts got a workout as Kiernan L. would make the Rebel post ring with hard shot, but close does not count in hockey, and the Ice Dogs were unable to close the gap.  The Rebels would eventually find a way to the back of the Ice Dog net at 5:39 with a third goal to put them up by two.   You could feel the tension in the arena as the Ice Dogs felt the clock ticking away and time starting to run out on them.  With 1:37 left in the third a glimmer of hope as Maddux O. slipped in a rebound  to close the score to 3-2.  This would prove to be the beginning of the end for the Rebels, as just 10 seconds later Kiernan L. would find the back of the Rebel net with a goal assisted by Avery D. to tie the game at 3.  Then, with a third goal for the Ice Dogs in just 29 seconds, Kiernan L. would again find the back of the Rebel net on a pass from Avery D.  to put the Dogs ahead by one.   The Ice Dogs would hold off the Rebels for the final sixty eight seconds of the game to come home with the win at a score of 4-3.

If you want to see these two teams play again, they lace up the skates again Saturday Jan. 14 at 9:30 in Chesley. Come on out and cheer them on!
