Back to back games with Shallow Lake
This weekend was an important one for the Ice Dogs Red team as they played back to back games against Shallow Lake in the WOAA playoffs.  Game one was held in Shallow Lake on Saturday, then on Sunday Shallow Lake travelled to Paisley for Game two.

These two teams were very closely matched in the regular season with AEMHA winning the first game against Shallow Lake 1 this season, and near the end of the regular season these two teams battled ti a 4-4 tie.  It was no surprise that these teams would fight and battle for every puck, and every inch of ice this weekend.  Saturday's game started out quickly with Kiernan L. striking first at 6:20 assisted by Rachel L..  The Lakers fought back and tied the game with 3:20 remaining in the first period.  At 8:04 of period two Maddux O. with Help from Avery D. would add another tally putting the Ice Dogs up by one.   From here on the Ice dogs would take control Maddux O. nets his second of the game at 7:14 of the second period, with the assist going tot the ghost player #10.  The Ice Dogs would strike again in the second period to go ahead by three.  (sorry everyone, game sheet was unreadable and I can't be certain of who scored that goal).  At 9:42 of the third Kiernan L. would put the Dogs up another goal with his second of the game with the assist going to Dominick E.  Then at 3:13 Maddux O. puts in another to complete the hat trick.  After a couple tense moments around the Ice Dog net including our goalie losing his stick for a while the final score ended up 6-1 Ice Dogs.

Sunday afternoon these two teams  met again, this time in Paisley.  Our Ice Dogs got off to a slow start this game.  It was a rough, tough game with lots of contact and a few penalties to both teams.  Shallow lake came out hard and by the end of period one the Ice Dogs found themselves under the gun and down by two.   Early in the second period Shallow Lake would strike again to go ahead by three.  The sheer amount of physical play began to take it's toll as Ice Dog Levi W. leaves the game in period 2 with concerns of a neck/head injury.  This seemed to get our players a little more fired up and at 4:51 Maddux O. would find the back of the Laker net unassisted.  With some new life in them, the Ice Dogs would add another one this time Kiernan L. put one past the Laker goalie to bring the Ice Dogs to within striking distance.  Period two would end with the score Lakers 3, Ice Dogs 2.   Heading into period three the physical play would continue be a factor.  Our Ice Dogs persevered and at 8:32 Kiernan L. would find Ben M. with a pass that Ben M. would make no mistake with and bring the score to three apiece.   Just three minutes later Dominick E. would make a great stand up play at the Laker blue line to keep the puck in the Laker end, then make a great pass to Maddux O. who wasted no time completing the hat trick putting the Ice Dogs up by one.   The Ice Dogs kept up the physical play and for the last 5 and a half minutes kept the Lakers from evening the score, ending the game with a 4-3 come from behind win!

A couple of shout outs today one to Noah J.  who made some great stand out saves when we needed them to keep us in the game.

Another to Levi W.  who left the game early, we all hope you are ok, and look forward to your return.

And last, but certainly not least, to Emmett H.  who suffered a broken wrist at practice last week, your presence on the bench cheering on your team mates was inspiring to everyone.  We miss you on the ice, and hope for your speedy recovery so you can return to us before too long.

Great Job Ice Dogs!
