Atom Red Defeats Owen Sound Attack
On yet another beautiful fall afternoon the Atom LL Red team played host to the Owen Sound Jr. Attack. The players from both teams were hyped up, anxious, and ready to play well before the drop of the puck.
It was a very fast start to the game as the starting line for the Ice Dogs opened the scoring 35 seconds into the first period with a goal from Maddux O assisted by Kiernan L. Hard work and continued effort were the order of the day. The Ice Dogs added a second goal at 5:24 of the first period as Emmett H pulled the trigger on a pass from Keirnan L. At 1:52 of the first period Ben M found his way onto the game sheet with a goal assisted by Emmett H. Although the Ice Dogs were coming on strong Owen Sound was not giving anything up easily. They continued to fight and with 1:18 seconds left in the first period the found an opening and scored one to put the Attack on the scoreboard as well. The Red team shook it off though, and before the end of the first period Emmett H would add his second of the day with the assist going to Ben M to end the first period at 4-1 for the Ice dogs.
The Owen Sound team rallied at the start of the second period and both teams went back and forth with some great effort and some close calls, but neither was able to find an opening in the goalies' armor at either end of the ice until at 6:30 Kiernan L found a hole and snuck one into the Owen Sound net unassisted. The Ice Dogs kept the pressure on and at 4:15 Avery D scored with the assist going to Levi W. More hard work from the team was rewarded as Maddux O also found the back of the Owen Sound net with an unassisted goal. Bringing the score to 7-1 at the end of the second.
Owen sound again came out hard to start the third period, but the speed, and work ethic of the Ice Dogs would prove to be Owen Sounds undoing as Emmett H would complete the hat trick at 6:03 with assists going to Ben M, and Nayal M. Kiernan L would add another unassisted goal at 5:26, and Ben Mc would find his way onto the scoreboard with a goal assisted by Keirnan L and Levi W.
The Ice Dogs travel to Southampton this weekend to play against Saugeen Shores, Come on out and cheer them on as they look to take the wind out of the Storm.
