Novice Rep Ice Dogs vs Lucknow - Playoffs
The Novice Rep Ice Dogs were coming off a couple of strong showings and were looking to get off on the right foot in the first round playoff match with Lucknow.
The Ice Dogs and Lucknow have never faced each other before and the first period saw both teams test the waters a bit. Lucknow would strike first with a couple of seeing eye shots to take a 2-0 lead as the first period come to a close.
The 2nd period was all Ice Dogs as they applied relentless pressure but couldn't seem to get to the net. The Ice Dogs kept skating and causing turnovers and it was the line of Austin L, Brayden P and Ethan S that finally broke through as Ethan ripped a shot off a Lucknow defender and into the net (assisted by Austin L.). Alek F. almost tied the game up with a "Shea Weber" like drive from the blue line and Logan H. had a couple of dangerous chances from the blue line as well.
The 3rd period saw the Ice Dogs let off the gas a bit and Lucknow struck for 3 more to make the final 5-1. The Ice Dogs plan to bring their skating legs on Monday as they look to tie things up at 1-1 in the re-match in Lucknow.
