Old rival and Hockey Day for AEMHA = good times.
Pee Wee LL Red played two games this weekend and both games were fun to watch.
Friday's game against cross-town rival White started off great as Mitch V V went end to end and fired a wrister in the top corner. Team White tied it up in the first period, but Bradley H made some fine saves to keep us tied going into the second.
In the second period, Mitch K fired a shot that hit the post, but Mitch V V shot the puck from his knees into the bottom corner, making the score 2-2. The 'bottom' then fell out of our game, as we were scrambling around in our own end for the last minute and 25 seconds, letting team White score 3 goals to end the period down 5-2.
The third period was a 'back and forth' game as we played good hockey but couldn't score any more goals, wishing we had that last 2 minutes of the second period back.
Saturday was Hockey Day for AEMHA, and we played Drayton, a team a lot like ourselves. The first period had lots of 'end to end' action, and Gavin H started things off with a shot that just trickled over the goal line. Bradley H again was making beauty saves, which continued into the second period, as we spent most of the period in their end. Parker H scored a strange goal, firing the puck into the net right off the faceoff, sending it into the bottom corner, all in one motion.
The third period had us playing a nice penalty kill, and soon after, Brock M made a sweet pass from behind the net to Parker, who promptly fired it in the net to go up 3-1. Brock then finished the scoring by coming out of the corner and shooting five-hole to end the game with a 4-1 win.
