Big change from one game to the next ...
What a difference one game to the next one can make when a team has a lot of desire and passion for the game of hockey !!!
The first game in Shallow Lake was a game with no drive or excitement, and it showed with the Ice Dog Reds down 5-0 after two periods.
The third period was a different story as after a few lineup changes and some 'talking' to, we came out firing, and with that came some goals. Jordan started it off with a deflection of a Mitch K point shot, followed by another point shot by Mitch K, with the puck ending up in the top corner of the net. Then after some hustle, Jordan again scored on a breakaway, making it 5-3 with 40 seconds to go. We tried very hard for two more goals and a tie game, but we just ran out of time.
Now tonight's game in Tara against Tiverton was a completely different game, as we looked like a totally inspired team wanting to prove a point. After spotting Tiverton the first goal, we continued improving as the game went on, playing some 'heads-up' hockey, which lead to a fantastic goal by Mitch VV, who re-directed a nice point shot again by Mitch K, who fired it towards Mitch, and as it slid into the net, the clock changed to a 1-1 tie.
Then after a late goal by Tiverton and after fighting off a double minor and finishing the game down a player after another penalty, we pulled our goalie again (Tatum had another solid game in net), but we just couldn't pull the trigger for a last minute goal to tie the game.
Well done Ice Dog Red's, we played the game like it was our last, and we should hang our heads up high and carry this enthusiasm into the last three games of the series.
