There May Have Been A Rebel Yell, But Dogs Are Just Warming Up
In Paisley, the IceDogs encountered the TCDMHA Rebels and have discovered that this is a team that will test our skills.  It took time to get the IceDogs running and by the time that happened, we had our work cut out for us.  Rebels took this game 5 to 3, but we'll be ready for them on Wednesday.

The IceDogs met the Rebels for the first of this best of 5 series.  We have played Alphabet Soup earlier in the season, but this is another team.  They require a different style of game than our last series.  The Rebels tested Tyson early in the first, but found no weaknesses.  IceDogs responded by Jason testing their goalie.  No goal.  With strong goaltending at both ends, this would be a game where it would take some strong pressure to score.  In the last five minutes of this period, the IceDogs got into some trouble.  Rebels scored at 4:47 and then again at 3:36.  And then again at 1:10 to take a 3 to nothing lead by the end of the first.

The Rebels are a team that like to hit the ice and push that puck through to our end.  But when push comes to push, no team is better than the IceDogs.  Instead of giving up and playing half-heartedly, the IceDogs got to work.  Mitch (#19) got the puck to Jaydn (#9) who then got the puck to Lawson (#8) who put it in their net.  The Dogs got a couple of powerplays but were unable to capitalize on them.  At 3:41, Mitch (#19) scored our second goal with a great shot that arched over the Rebel goalie, hit the top bar and dropped in straight behind.  The Dogs had a great second period.

The final period was busy. We get a great goal with some hardwork from Lawson (#8) and Mitchell (#19)  that again, rolls up the goalie and into the net behind his back at 10:28.  Very tricky shot.  But Rebels respond with another goal to make it 4 to 3.  Then another.  We kill off a penalty with some good defensive strategy.  The Dogs kept testing their goalie right to the end.  But we ran out of time.  The Rebels take the first game in our series.  And feel free to enjoy that win, Rebels.  We are planning to take all the rest!  Go Dogs!!
