Last Game of 2012!
Off to Walkerton on a Sunday for the last game of 2012 and for league. The IceDogs worked hard and made some great opportunites happen. But it would be Walkerton's day. Final score: 4 for them and 2 for us.
The IceDogs and Hawks played a good game on the 30th. The first period saw only one penalty and that not for any contact or unsportsmanlike behaviour. It was a basic addition error. However, in the dying moments of the period, Walkerton gets on the scoreboard.
It was during the second period that the Dogs had to dig deep and play through. Walkerton scored a quick succession and it was looking pretty bleak with the board reading 4 to 0. Then, a play from (#13), Will to Mitch (#19) to Lawson (#8) sparked new life in the squad. The Dogs woke up! The next period, the Icedogs increased their passes and it brought more opportunities. They kept chasing the pucks. And the effort against a strong defensive team was rewarded at 8:28 to the persistent Mitch (#19) with a backhand from a wonderful pass from Jaydn (#9). Tyson was working hard all game, but his brilliant stop at 2:29 brought parents to their feet. The final buzzer sounded and Tyson was making the save from Walkerton's last move. A valiant effort.
