Big Fun in the Big Smoke!
Your U13 Rep IceDogs sure love playing together...if you've seen them play that is obvious.  And they got the chance to hangout for the entire weekend in Oshawa to test their strength against 3 solid teams in tournament Round Robin play.

Game 1 - Ennismore Eagles vs IceDogs - Ennismore is undefeated in their regular season play and it was obvious why.  Their goalie was twice the size of ours (maybe 3 x!) and the were pretty much the mirror image of us--fast skaters and hard checkers.  This game came down to bounces and the IceDogs didn't get them.  Two flukey goals evaded Aidan S. and the IceDogs would succumb 2-0.

**Ennismore would go on to win the tournament so we can hang our hat on giving them a tough fight.

Game 2 - IceDogs vs Loyalist Jets - the Jets must have been upset about something because they paraded to the penalty box a lot.  The IceDogs would score 2 Power Play goals (Owen M and Ethan S.) and Jesse P. would snipe a beauty to give the IceDogs a 3-1 win.  It was another complete team effort with Aidan S. coming up big in big situations and the IceDogs didn't retaliate to stay out of the box.

On to the Fox and the Goose for a team dinner (which is another writeup in itself but what happens in Oshawa, stays in Oshawa).
Incidentally, if you are ever in Oshawa, check this place out!  Food is great, Owner is a huge IceDog fan now and we might have picked up a few more fans among the patrons.

Game 3 - IceDogs vs Mariposa Lightning - the IceDogs weren't quite as sharp in this one.  They still checked well but their passing was off and they didn't have that explosive speed that is an IceDog trademark.  They would fall 5-2 to a team they could beat if they played like they can.

Despite not winning as much as we would like, it was a great weekend of fun, laughs and hockey.  Lessons were learned that will make this team better as they were challenged in 3 games and proved they can hang with the big boys if they put their minds to it.

Nice work boys and IceDog families!
