IceDogs Are WOAA Champs!
Your U13 Rep IceDogs are WOAA Lockridge Division Champs after completing the 2 game sweep of the BCH IceDogs in Hensall on Wednesday evening.

It was a bit of a hike to Hensall and the IceDogs weren't as sharp out of the gate in this one (they weren't terrible either--just not their usual pesky selves.  BCH was winning races and battles and putting the pressure on but Aidan S. was ready for them.  He swallowed up shots and allowed no rebounds and allowed his team to get their legs going.  Despite the slow start, Ethan S. got his team on the board when he slipped a low hard shot into the BCH net.  The lead didn't last long as BCH got rewarded for their good start by banging in a rebound (after another great Aidan save!)  The first period ended in a 1-1 draw and served as a wake up call for the boys in Red.

And it was message received.  The IceDogs came out flying in the 2nd.  It was a classic IceDog hockey as they outskated and outworked BCH every shift.  Brayden P. would get the go ahead marker with a wrister from the slot off a nice check in the neutral zone by Porter B.  Ethan S. would snipe a beauty only 12 seconds later for a 3-1 lead.  After a few more close calls by the PB and J line (Porter, Brayden and Jesse), Jesse would work a puck into the BCH zone and feed Brayden P for a tap-in and it was 4-1.  The IceDogs were full marks for the lead and Karden C. would lead a rush and feed Brayden P once again for another tap(s) in and it was 5-1.  BCH would get one back late in the 2nd but it was all Arran-Elderslie at the flood.

With the IceDogs feeling pretty good about themselves, they played a nearly flawless period, coming close to scoring and not allowing any BCH chances.  And when the final buzzer sounded it was a 5-2 win and a WOAA Championship.

It felt like sweet redemption having been robbed of the opportunity to play for the Championship 2 years ago.  And after a emotional and dramatic win in Tara last Friday vs Minto in the deciding Game 4, this was truly satisfying.  Owen W, Karden, Alek, Waylon, Ethan, Owen M, Carter, Simon, Brayden, Porter, Jesse and Aidan (Aden, Hudson and Jake too!)- you played your hearts out the entire season -- you deserve all the success and accolades you are receiving -- and it's not over yet!

The IceDogs are off to Windsor for the OMHA Championship Tournament next weekend...stay tuned for updates and player profiles coming soon!
