IceDogs Weather the Storm
The U13 Rep IceDogs hosted the Saugeen Shores Storm on Monday evening as the snow and wind was blowing outside.  Despite the bad weather, the Cyclone Taylor Arena was packed.

The IceDogs came out on fire to start this one (kind of a trend they have) and it was Ethan and Karden getting the goals.  Aiden S. had to be sharp to thwart a couple of Storm chances but it was the IceDogs holding the edge in shots, goals and play.

The second started with Hudson J. making a great play at the blue line and feeding Owen M., who went backhand and in for a 3-0 IceDogs lead.  Brayden P. would get a greasy "Gally" goal after Ethan S. turned the Storm D inside out behind the net and put the puck out front.  It was 4-0 IceDogs and they were humming right along.  But things took a bit of a turn (another trend we plan to rectify) when the Storm scored a nice post and in goal to get back in it.  Another quick goal had the IceDogs on their heels a bit but the buzzer sounded to end the second with the IceDogs up 4-2.

The third started with a flurry of IceDog chances with Carter M. and Jesse P buzzing all over the place, turning pucks over and keeping the Storm at bay.  But the Storm would capitalize on two turnovers and suddenly, things were knotted up at 4 with on a couple of minutes left to play.  With the "cousin" line on the ice (Ethan-Brayden-Jesse) the IceDogs ratchetd up the pressure and just missed on a few chances.  With Jesse making a terrific line change, Owen M. snuck off the bench and into the Storm zone and buried a beautiful sauce pass from Ethan (with Brayden recking havoc in front of the net.  The IceDogs would escape with a hard earned 5-4 win.

If Coach P. was treating the last two games like a playoff game, then the hockey gods were listening, because it sure felt like it.  The IceDogs have a few things to clean up but proved they can win when push comes to shove.  They've earned a well deserved 2 week hiatus to rest up for the stretch run and the Silver Stick tourney in late December.
