U13 IceDogs Defeat Cyclones
They might have been visiting the Cyclone Taylor Arena in Tara but the Listowel Cyclones met an opponent that was determined to get 2 points on Saturday.  Mr. Cyclone Taylor himself would have been proud of this effort.

The IceDogs had a solid game plan going into this one but it was Listowel that got on the scoreboard early when they scored on the first two shifts of the game.  Despite the score, the IceDogs were playing well and turned up the intensity and turned the tide.  Ethan S. would snipe a shot from a tough angle after the two Owens worked him the puck.  Next it was rookie call-up Jake F. with a hard-working goal after Jesse P and Brayden P had worked together to get the puck to the net.  It was all tied up at 2's after 1 period of play.

The IceDogs hemmed the Cyclones in their own end for a lot of the 2nd period and the score reflected the edge in play.  First, Karden C. ripped a wrister on the power play, after picking off an errant Cyclone pass.  Next, Ethan would collect a loose puck after Owen M. did the dirty work behind the net and give a beauty backhand pass.  Owen would get a goal of his own not long after, shovelling in a rebound from a Karden C. blast from the point.  That made the score 5-2 IceDogs and they were in full control after 2.

During the 3rd period, both teams began to lose their focus and the play became a bit scrambled.  Some retaliation penalties slowed the IceDog attack but they were still checking well.  Aidan S. wasn't busy after the 1st period onslaught but made a rapier like glove save in the dying minutes of the game to put an exclamation point on this one.  Owen M. would get another goal, with assists going to Jesse P and Jake F.  Jesse P would get the final goal of the game after a Brayden P. shot missed the net.  Jake F. would collect the loose puck and Jesse would hammer home the rebound.

It was a complete team effort from start to finish.  Despite falling behind early, the IceDogs stuck with the game plan and trusted their ability to come back.  Using their speed game to perfection to attack and defend, the IceDogs served notice that they are starting to find their A-game...and they'll need it when the Drayton Defenders come to town this Sunday -- puck drop is 6:00.
