Peewee LL#1, U13, 2019-2020 (Arran-Elderslie Minor Hockey)

As my phone lit up with messages and notices regarding the end of the hockey season, my heart sank.  As a coach, you invest yourself more than you realize and the sudden stop of everything you were working on, leaves an empty feeling. Every kid on the bench is more than just a number.  Each one of them has their strengths and weaknesses and each and every practice is geared to work on both of those.

As the playoffs have wore on, the AEMHA PeeWee #1 squad found themselves very much in the hunt for the top of the round robin playoffs. Tonight they faced off against their counterparts in the PeeWee #2 squad. The efforts of their brothers and sisters have played spoiler in helping our group move up in the rankings. For this our players were nervous and wondering if they would play spoiler for their fellow Icedogs. 

Coming off a great practice on Saturday, the PeeWee LL#1 squad traveled to Ripley for a rematch vs Huron Bruce PeeWee LL The coach held his head low as a couple promised skate sharpenings were left far behind in Chesley. A big thank you to the locals for donating a pair of skates and a couple parents who tagged teamed up to bring the proper skates in time for the 3rd period. The lads were pumped up regardless, and with 3 wins needed to help us move on, it was time to focus on one game at a time.

With four games in the books, the Arran Elderslie PeeWee LL #1 squad is sitting with 3 wins and two losses. With two teams ahead of us in the standings, the close fought and tight games tell, the round robin win is still within our reach.

On Saturday evening, your PeeWee LL #1 team travelled to Southampton to begin their playoffs against a new opponent, the Saugeen Shores #1 LL team.
