PeeWee LL#1 End the season with a big win.
After a not so favorable outcome against the Hanover 2 Falcons, the Icedogs rallied together as a team to finish off the regular season against the South-Bruce Blades.

The atmosphere was all positive in the dressing room prior to our final regular season game vs the South Bruce Blades. The boys were laughing and joking in the dressing room prior to the game. I truly believe the combination of a few stagnant hockey bags mixed with the tropical temperatures of the Paisley dressing room had the boys keen to get out on the ice.

Our last meeting ended in a tie after South Bruce battled back from a 3-0 deficit.

With the drop of the puck we were off and running. The team were looking for each other and utilizing their team work to control the play. The opponents goalie kept out multiple attacks by our heavy forcheck and team passing. Owen W kept out any attempts fired his way and Owen M, Daemyn E, Ryan S, Anderson G and Braden N, thwarted any attempts at rebounds and battles down low.
The first period was mainly in the opponents end and with only 2:22 left in the first, Ryan S ripped a feed out of our zone to Nick P who danced around almost every Blade player and rifled home the first goal of the game.
Up 1-0 going into the second, the team play continued. With only a few minutes off the clock, Kaden C picked up a pass from Nick P deep in the corner and put us up 2-0.
After a few sky pucks and attempts to break the back glass, the Great 88 finally had the gun sited in and put us ahead 3-0 late in the 2nd.
With a 3-0 lead we took our foot off the gas and South Bruce took advantage and closed the gap by 2 with only 19 seconds left in the second.

During the flood, we opted not to return to the sweat box dressing room and stayed on the bench. All the faces of the players were glowing as they were working as a group and having a blast.

With the hoots and hollers by the Icedog fans and parents, they took the ice to commence the 3rd.
Wait.....are we watching a replay from our previous game vs the Blades?
It didn't take long but with only 3 minutes of the clock, the Blades struck again and brought them to within 1.
Minutes later they managed to tie it up with only 7 minutes left to play.
This woke up the lads and we all thought.....oh no....not again!!!!
The rest of the play was taken to the Blades end ( Thank you Kaden for letting us know that this is where are goals come from)
Our efforts down low by our forwards kept things in their end. Many passes were put out to the awaiting defence to control the play in their end. With only 1 minute to go, the effort of Lucas and Leithan working down low, left a juicy rebound for Cole to tuck in for the goal.
Only a minute left.......pretty much over, right? Hold on a second........
Not going down without a fight, the blades made a push into our end, Daemyn and Anderson fought it off and sent it out to our wingers in a text book break out. On the next rush, only seconds left to play,  the Blades goalie was on the bench for the extra skater, with no one to cover him, he danced by almost everyone and rifled wicked wrister towards the top right corner...... but not this time....with a flash of the blocker, Owen W pounded it away.
Buzzer beater was denied and the lads embraced their goalie as the game ended with an exciting finish.

So that's it. The regular season is behind us. We have had our great games, bad games and some in between. We have all had great laughs, moments of frustration and moments of glory. But all in all, everyone in this group has found something in themselves to better themselves throughout the season. I am proud of each and every one of them and I am excited to see us carry this team effort into the playoffs.
