Atom Rep IceDogs Battle Hard in Shallow Lake
The AEMHA Atom Rep IceDogs were off to Shallow Lake to rebound from a disappointing outing last week.  The IceDogs were looking to build off a much better effort in the 2nd half of that game and get a much needed win.

The IceDogs came out moving the puck sharply and generating a few scoring chances early.  The IceDogs had their legs early and were taking the play to the Lakers.  A late penalty had the Lakers jumping out to a 1-0 lead on a shot from the slot and another unfortunate bounce put them up 2-0 at the first recess.  Despite the score, the 'Dogs were still the better team and vowed to be even better in the 2nd.

And they were.  Several good opportunities went unrewarded and an unfortunate turnover led to another Laker goal.  But the IceDogs were undaunted.  Ethan S. would win a draw deep in his own zone.  Newly anointed defenceman Karden C. would move the puck smartly up the ice to Lucas S. who gained the Laker zone and fired a laser, top stinking cheese, to get the IceDogs on the board.  Another bad break ended up in the IceDog net but the IceDogs had momentum.  Ethan and Brayden P. worked a little give and go action to gain the Laker zone.  Owen M. would get in on the action with some hard work and after a flurry of shots by Brayden and Owen, Ethan would smash home a rebound and the IceDogs were in business heading into the 3rd period.

The third period was a see saw affair with some great checking and some IceDogs shots that just whistled wide.  The Lakers were clearly frustrated by the IceDogs hard work and began taking cheap shots but the 'Dogs battled hard to the very end, eventually succumbing 4-2.

Once again, a good effort didn't result in a win but this team didn't quit and did a lot of the little things right.  They continue to learn and strive to get better.  Good work tonight IceDogs!
