Atom Rep IceDogs Play Well in Loss to West-Grey
The AEMHA Atom Rep IceDogs had something to prove on Sunday---West-Grey had pushed them around, run up the score and rubbed the IceDogs noses in it last time out.  This was going to be different--and boy, was it ever.

Coach Chad put the forward units in the blender and came out with some lethal combinations to kick start the game.  Despite going down a goal early, the IceDogs were a hungry bunch and were frustrating the Warriors.  Turn over after turnover finally led to a IceDog goal when Lucas S. hammered a clapper from the top of the circle to tie things up at one.  His line mates of Carter G. and George I. assisted on the goal after some down and dirty work down low to work the puck to Lucas.  Next, the new unit of Brayden P-Ethan S. and Landon B. went to work.  Logan H. and Ethan S. would work hard to keep the puck inside the Warrior zone and Logan would rip a shot on goal that rebounded right to a wide open Brayden P. who buried it behind the Warrior goal to give the IceDogs their first lead of the playoffs.  Hard work, hard-checking and explosive skating would have the IceDogs leading at the first intermission and the West-Grey official clock operator and coaches losing their minds (had to throw that in there!)

The 2nd period had the 'Dogs playing with their foot firmly on the gas pedal.  This up tempo style was causing all sorts of headaches for the Warriors, and when they did break loose, Owen W. was there with a rapier like glove hand and excellent control of the rebounds.  The long break between games might have cost the 'Dogs some stamina and they began to let up slightly.  The Warriors pounced on a couple of mistakes (and lucky breaks) and would score a couple of quick ones to re-take the lead.  They would keep the one goal lead as the 2nd period buzzer sounded.

The third period was a bit of a penalty filled affair with lots of chances for both teams.  Unfortunately for the IceDogs, it was the Warriors that capitalized on couple of chances and they would ultimately take the game 5-2.

To a player, the IceDogs were 110% better than the last time they hit the ice.  The long break between games led to a few mental mistakes that cost them but the Warriors were definitely served notice that they won't push this IceDog team around.  It was a loss on the scoreboard but a win in so many other ways and the IceDogs will look to ride this strong play as the two teams face off again Monday in good ol' Pixley, Ontario....7:00 puck drop.
