Atom Rep IceDogs Fall to Rebels
The AEMHA Atom Rep IceDogs were looking to continue their red-hot play heading into the playoffs. Coming off a great runner-up finish at their annual tournament, the 'Dogs headed to Keady on Thursday evening.
In somewhat predictable fashion, the IceDogs came out a little flat. Lost puck battles, coasting into checks and an inability to read the play quick enough led to the Rebels getting all the bounces early on. There were some flashes of brilliance throughout the game but it definitely was not a 3 period effort.
The line of Owen M-Brayden P and Lucas S. get the IceDogs on the board with a hard-working shift. Brayden would pressure the Rebel D into a mistake where Owen M pounced on the loose puck. Lucas S. set up shop in front of the net and Owen hit him with a beauty pass. Lucas made no mistake burying the puck behind the Rebel netminder.
The 2nd IceDog goal was one the team has been longing for. Hitting the Rebel zone with speed, Ethan S., Karden C. and Austin L began to work the puck deep. Karden would dig out a loose puck and Ethan S. skated the puck out front, dragging defenders with him. A low hard back hand would deflect off Karden's stick and get him a well-deserved goal.
After practice tonight, I am sure all the IceDogs know that a 3 period effort is all that will be accepted and tolerated from here on out.
