Atom Rep IceDogs Hosting Annual Tournament
The AEMHA Atom Rep IceDogs are hosting the World this weekend as they play in the Annual Atom Tournament at the Paisley Coliseum.  The IceDogs were playing 3 Round Robin Games today to kick things off.

Game #1 - The IceDogs hosted a familiar foe in the Bruce Peninsula Predators.  The Predators have played the IceDogs tough this year and this game was no exception.  The 'Dogs got off to a quick start as Ethan S. buried a beautiful pass from Karden C. to lead 1-0.  Owen W. would keep the IceDogs in the lead, making the hard saves look easy.  Bruce Penn would strike early in the 2nd to knot things up at 1.  A great line change by the 'Dogs led to Lucas S. hustling and banging in a rebound off of a breakaway by Landon B. (secondary assist to Brayden P.)  Once gain the Preds would tie things up at two's but George I. would break the deadlock with a hard-working goal (assisted by Austin L and Karden C.)  The third period had the Preds tying things up again midway through the frame.  The IceDogs would go back to work and Carter G. would bury a one-timer, off a feed from George I. and the IceDogs would skate away with a 4-3 win.

Game #2 - The IceDogs were facing the Huron-Bruce Blizzard in Game #2.  With little rest, the IceDogs looked like they were ripe for the picking.  But, these 'Dogs have been surprising teams all year with their effort and came out flying in this one.  Correcting some minor mistakes from Game #1 was the plan for this one and the 'Dogs rewarded Coach Chad with a great effort.  The first period was all IceDogs and the line of Ethan S.-Austin L and Karden C. were dangerous every shift.  Austin would strike first after tremendous work by Ethan and Karden down low behind the net.  Then, Austin would bury another goal, with Karden again doing the dirty work down low.  Landon B. would score later in the first after George I. got the puck to the net.  The 'Dogs didn't need Owen W. to be especially sharp as they kept the Blizzard to the outside, limiting their chances.  Midway through the 2nd period,  Anderson G. would make a tremendous read in the neutral zone and pick up a cross ice pass.  He danced gingerly into the Blizzard zone, faked out a few defenders and ripped a low hard one to put the IceDogs up 4-0.  The IceDogs continued to do all the little things right and were full marks for a 4-0 win.

Game #3 - If the IceDogs were full marks for the win in Game #2, they also certainly deserved their fate in Game #3 against the BCH IceDogs.  Every excuse in the book was on display in this one and certainly not enough of the little things being done right.  Costly turnovers, weak play and skates stuck in cement led to a boat load of chances against.  Despite Owen W. playing other-worldly, the rival IceDogs would score a couple of goals to win the game 2-0.  Not much more can be said about this one.

Despite the loss, the Atom Rep IceDogs will play in the medal round tomorrow, first game at 9:00 against Saugeen Shores.
