Playoff Game #3 - IceDogs vs Meteors
Your U15 AEMHA Rep IceDogs were coming off a complete game victory versus Central Perth on Friday and were ready to keep the ball rolling vs the Meteors of Mitchell.

This Mitchell team is a scrappy, hard-checking squad and the IceDogs were up for the challenge early.  Executing the game plan to perfection, the IceDogs would take advantage on the powerplay, with Ethan sniping one (off a rebound from Brayden P and a nice pinch at the blue line by Waylon G).  The Mitchell netminder would make a few larcenous saves to keep the score 1-0 after one.

The second period had the IceDogs finding another gear.  Breaking out of their own zone with quick passes, they played with speed and had Mitchell on their heels the entire frame.  After a dominating shift (where the Mitchell goalie made a series of incredible saves), Owen M. would find Simon J. creeping off the blue line--his low hard shot would be tipped by Jesse P and the IceDogs had a 2-0 lead.  The line of Ethan S-Carter G-Brayden P got in on the action next with a 3 quick passes and Carter G. would find a hole in the Meteor goalie for a 3-0 lead.  Porter B. would do what he does best next--calmly collect the puck and find a teammate...this time it was Ian M who found a lane and with a perfect pass, finding Jake F.  who went toe-drag-release (TDR ;-)from the top of the circle and the IceDogs were full marks for a 4-0 lead at the 2nd recess.

The third was a bit of a different story as Mitchell came out checking hard, making life difficult for the IceDogs.  But the 4-0 lead was too much to overcome.  IceDog Tendy Peyton L was tested more in the third but was equal to the task on every shot, earning the shutout.  The defensive corps of Waylon G, Owen W, Alek F and Karden C also gave up next to nothing (and their breakout passes were probably the key to such a great first and second period.).

The IceDogs will look to bottle that first and second period as they look to continue their winning ways next weekend...it's another big weekend of hockey coming up--first, Friday vs Saugeen Valley Steelheads (Chesley @ 6) and then a showdown with Mount Forest on Sunday (7:30 in Mount Forest).
