The U15 AEMHA IceDogs are bound for Halton Hills this coming weekend. They earned the right to play for an OMHA Championship with solid team play and lessons learned this season. Here is a snapshot of our team, starting with the Goalies and Defencemen.
Peyton L - Goalie
NHL Comparable - Jordan Binnington
Peyton has come a long way this year and become one of the leaders of the team. His game vs Wallaceburg in Fort Erie was one for the books. He also backstopped the team to a 2nd place finish in a B/C Division Tournament in Shallow Lake with some more great performances. We are not where we are today without Peyton.
Adian S - Goalie
NHL Comparable: Jussi Sarros
Aidan is our biggest cheerleader. He comes to practice ready to make our team better. When he was called upon this year, he was solid between the pipes.
Alek F - Defence
NHL Comparables: Morgan Rielly, Roman Yosi
Alek is a quiet leader on the team. He lets his play do the talking. His shut down defence can always be counted on but he has added an offence flair to his game, scoring on bullets from the point or electrifying rushes.
Karden C - Defence
NHL Comparable: Alek Pietrangelo, Kadien Guhle
Karden is NOT the quiet leader. His infectious positive energy gets the team fired up before games. On the ice, his play isn't flashy but Karden just gets the job done. His mini-stick tournaments are the stuff of legends and help build team chemistry.
Owen W - Defence
NHL Comparable: Jacob Chychrun, Josh Morrisey
Weirsy has become a solid defence man at both ends of the ice. The roar from the bench when he scored his first goal of the season was one of the loudest to date (which tells you all you need to know about this team and how they value their teammate).
Waylon G - Defence
NHL Comparables: Drew Doughty, Devon Teows
Waylon plays bigger than his size, leading the team in hits given and hits taken. He never backs down from an opponent and has an underrated clapper from the point. He is an underrated passer too, often leading the breakout with great passes to his wingers.
Affiliated Players on Defence:
Mac M and Landon S - Mac filled in admirably all season long when called upon. He makes a good first pass and has a bullet from the blue line that should be a weapon in years to come. Landon was never called upon to play but we followed his terrific season in U13 and were cheering them on in their OMHA journey.
