Playoff Game #2 - IceDogs vs Predators
Your u15 AEMHA Rep IceDogs were off to Milverton to tangle with the Central-Perth Predators on Friday. After a week off, the IceDogs were hungry to get back on the ice and continue their playoff run.
It didn't take long for the IceDogs to wet their appetite either. Karden C. and Brayden P combined to break the IceDogs out of their zone and Ethan S. completed the play with a lovely dish to Carter G. (with a bullet) to nick the twine (just 17 s.) in and the IceDogs were off and running. Carter G. would put his team up 2-0 with a shorty (and some great work to steal the puck). The 1st period would end with the IceDogs leading 2-0.
The 2nd period had the IceDogs finding another gear and relentless pressing the Preds and hemming them in their own end. Simon J. would outwork a couple of Predators for the puck and a supporting Ethan S. would collect the puck and fire one home. Next, Jake F. would work a beauty breakout with Ethan and Ethan would pot another for a 4-0 lead. More relentless pressure would produce another goal and this time it was Jesse P. working his way into the slot for a lovely snipe (assisted by Walyon G.). The trio of Ethan-Carter and Brayden were buzzing all night and Ethan would pot a rebound (off a Brayden P. shot) and complete the scoring in the 2nd period. Despite the barrage of goals, the Predator goalie was full marks with some incredible stops (and some that he just made look routine).
After the intermission, the IceDogs found themselves in some penalty trouble and the Preds would reap the reward with a goal to kick off the third. But the IceDogs playoff mantra is win every period so they buckled down and went to work. Owen M. would get sprung on a break and score on a nifty forehand tuck and Ethan S. would complete the scoring with a PP goal off some great work in the triangle by Brayden and Jesse P.
There was lots of good on this night as the fans in attendance were treated to some hard-working teamwork by the team in Black. But the IceDogs don't have long to relish this one....they are back in action on Sunday evening as the Mitchell Meteors are coming to town...puck drop is 7:00 sharp in Chesley.
